On April 29, Galliawatch reported on the occupation of a Belgian church by illegal immigrants, known as "sans-papiers" (without papers). According to a brief article from François Desouche:
They have decided to occupy the Saint-Merri Church in Paris from Sunday until next Thursday (with the complicity of the Catholic authorities, obviously). We should thank our lucky stars that it only concerns one church! Our German and Belgian neighbors have to deal with an increasing number of occupied churches. In Belgium, about twenty Catholic churches and chapels have been "welcoming" from 100 to 700 illegals, mainly Muslims, and one church, Notre-Dame du Bon Secours in Brussels, went so far as to hang out an Islamic banner with the word "Allah".
