France 2 Reporters Attacked
French journalists of the France 2 TV Channel were attacked in Clichy-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis) Tuesday night. Yahoo reports:
A cameraman from France 2 was hospitalized Tuesday after being attacked and "seriously wounded in the head" while on assignment in Clichy-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis) it was learned from the national channel.
"A team of reporters was working in Clichy-sous-Bois for the newscast. The cameraman was assaulted. He received a rather serious head wound and was hospitalized...He did not lose consciousness but the wound was very deep," declared Etienne Leenhardt, who added that the camera had been stolen.
The two other members of the team, "an editor and a sound engineer were not harmed," added Mr. Leenhardt. France 2 "is trying to learn more" about the circumstances of the attack on the cameraman that occurred "between 3:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M." he stated.
In a related incident, two witnesses reported that a press photographer was robbed of his camera in the neighborhood of Chêne Pointu, in Clichy-sous-Bois, while he was taking pictures of burning cars.
"One youth approached the photographer, slammed him against a car while another strapped him from behind with a belt and demanded his camera, which he eventually had to relinquish under pressure," declared an eye-witness journalist who wished to remain anonymous.
Another photographer who witnessed the attack also described the same scene to AFP (Agence France Presse).
