Holland in Darkness

The British website TimesOnLine published a depressing but all too accurate description of the mood in Europe today. The author is Douglas Murray. Here are some excerpts. The link is to the original article, which, I hope, remains accessible for a long time.

"Would you write the name you'd like to use here, and your real name there?" asked the girl at reception. I had just been driven to a hotel in the Hague. An hour earlier I'd been greeted at Amsterdam airport by a man holding a sign with a pre-agreed cipher. I hadn't known where I would be staying, or where I would be speaking. The secrecy was necessary: I had come to Holland to talk about Islam...

Holland - with its disproportionately high Muslim population - is the canary in the mine. Its once open society is closing, and Europe is closing slowly behind it. It looks, from Holland, like the twilight of liberalism - not the "liberalism" that is actually libertarianism, but the liberalism that is freedom. Not least freedom of expression...

All across Europe, debate on Islam is being stopped. Italy's greatest living writer, Oriana Fallaci, soon comes up for trial in her home country, and in Britain the government seems intent on pushing through laws that would make truths about Islam and the conduct of its followers impossible to voice...

The governments of Europe have been tricked into believing that criticism of a belief is the same thing as criticism of a race. And so it is becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous to criticize a growing and powerful ideology within our midst. It may soon, in addition, be made illegal...

As I left the Netherlands I once again felt terrible sorrow for a country that is slowly being lost. A society which should be carefree and inspiring has become dark and worried. The jihad in Europe is winning...

A Word of Warning

An editorial from Occidentalis urges Jews to learn to recognize friend from foe, and also warns of the danger of a betrayal from Le Pen and/or his daughter. This is not the first time that the editor of Occidentalis has sent this warning about the true nature and intentions of the Front National. The dilemma of the French Jews and the debate over the FN will be treated in subsequent posts. The rally in question was held in memory of Ilan Halimi, but degenerated into a Socialist fest.

The developments at Sunday's rally force us into this observation: the Jewish community is going to have to decide who are its friends and who are its enemies. Those who have been responsible for the rise in immigration and the Islamization of our country for the past 30 years, are also responsible for anti-Semitic, anti-French, anti-white, and anti-Western acts. Watching these people march today was shameful, and an affront to the memory of young Ilan.

At the risk of shocking my readers, we condemn just as strongly the attempts by the FN to take advantage of this situation. Jean-Marie Le Pen is an ally of Islam, and if he fights against immigration, he participates also in the (...) Islamization of our society, and in the rise of anti-Western attacks committed by Muslims.

For it is a fact that the remarks made by his daughter Marine Le Pen, touted as "strategic director" of the presidential campaign are frightening, scandalous, inadmissible. To the weekly magazine Le Point of January 12, she indicated that she was "very upset by the discrimination in hiring practices towards Frenchmen born of immigrants, since they are indeed Frenchmen" (...) (while) she ought to be upset by the unemployment rate among ethnic Frenchmen. In 2003 she declared to LCI News that she wanted "a French Islam to emerge".

It is a veritable strategy devised by the leadership of the FN, a strategy that aims to win over the Muslim voters who regard Le Pen as a real friend. After all, they have common enemies, and this creates ties...

The Removal of De Villiers

The expulsion of Philippe de Villiers from Sunday's demonstration has been denounced by French patriots, for whom the event represents a major setback, or at best a further indication of how many obstacles remain to be overcome. It is unusual to expel a well-known politician of stature from a demonstration, although things of this nature did happen to Le Pen in the past. An angry response from de Villiers was released.

Note: CRIF is a left-leaning "umbrella" organization that represents French Jewish institutions.

Philippe de Villiers has risen in strong opposition to the "incredible totalitarian sectarianism of extreme left-wing groups which (with the exception of the CRIF) forcibly removed him from the front of Sunday's march" honoring the memory of Ilan Halimi. In a statement to Agence France Press, he stressed that "for 20 years" these extreme leftist groups have "encouraged the rise of a new anti-Semitism, an extreme form of an anti-French racism".

Before the start of the march, de Villiers had been removed by the security forces engaged by the organizers of the demonstration. He made clear that if he had to leave the vanguard of the marchers, where political personalities of all stripes were gathered, he decided later to "march in the middle of the crowd, amidst the people of France". A co-worker said that "he received a warm welcome as he had Thursday evening in the synagogue where he received an ovation".

(...) In a speech last September announcing his candidacy for the presidency, Philippe de Villiers made known his will to "stop the progressive Islamization of French society, which is is tumbling into multi-culturalism in the hands of the globalization-oriented political elite".

These remarks aroused angry protests from the Left and from anti-racism associations such as SOS-Racism, that concluded de Villiers "had definitively crossed the Rubicon and had become a direct rival of the extreme-right" (meaning the Front National, Le Pen's party).

A Tale of Three Demonstrations

Since the murder of Ilan Halimi there have been three demonstrations in Paris. The first was a spontaneous outburst of support for the young man so brutally slain. This took place on February 19 two days after his funeral and was attended by anywhere from 2000 to 4000 people (reports vary). French patriots held high hopes for the second demonstration on Friday the 24th, but were disappointed by the very small number of people who came - reports vary from 300 to 1500. This rally had been planned for several weeks and its theme was "Islam will not become Law in France". Some people said afterward that they felt France had already made up its mind to surrender to Islam.

But it is the third demonstration that has caused ink to flow. Planned as another tribute to Ilan, the rally was seized by the Left who used it for its own purposes - a display of crocodile tears and a show of unity with the forces of multiculturalism, immigrationism, and political correctness. Philippe de Villiers was banned from the demonstration, to his (and everyone's) shock.

Here is an excerpt from an eye-witness account by Georges Clément:

I've returned from the rally to the memory of Ilan Halimi. All I could see was a stream of people from show biz (...) and politically correct politicians, i.e. precisely those who are at the root of the evil that is destroying France (...) the great mass of young people, poorly dressed, with slicked hair, slouching, vulgar in their speech and seemingly unmoved by the event, seemed closer to the "barbarians" because of whom we were there in the first place. But what induced me to leave was the presence of CRAN (...) the racist organization of French blacks. They were completely tolerated in the midst of those mourning a victim of racism. It was clear that you could be a racist at this rally so long as you were black.

This is a communiqué from combined Jewish associations of France:

The great national demonstration of the French people, against barbarity and its atrocities, was originally to take place in Bagneux. Not content with having displaced it and highjacked it, certain groups that one would normally suspect of being accomplices to those who murdered Ilan Halimi, went so far as to prevent Philippe de Villiers, head of the MPF, from marching in the parade.

Philippe de Villiers is today the only French politician, of any stature, to denounce unambiguously the radical Islamization of France and its consequences. More than anyone else, he deserved to be at the head of this demonstration.

At this time, the Jews of France reaffirm their solid support for Philippe de Villiers, for his commitment, and for the sincerity of his friendship.

Press Release from the Viscount

Philippe de Villiers has emerged as a likely contender for the presidency of France in the 2007 election. His party, the MPF (Movement For France), is taking a much firmer anti-Islam stand than his chief competitor, Jean-Marie Le Pen whose Front National has been, until now, the leading nationalist party. It is important for Americans to realize that President Jacques Chirac and his followers are conservative in name only. Chirac long ago began selling out to both Socialists and Muslim immigrants. He is known to favor Islam and to work at implanting Muslims institutionally on French soil through the building of mosques and the establishment of high-level Islamic organizations whose role is to permeate gradually all levels of French society.

Since France has often been betrayed by her leaders in the past we can only hope that the aristocratic blood flowing in Viscount Le Jolis de Saintignon's veins is sincere, determined and authentic. This statement was released on Friday February 24 in anticipation of Sunday's demonstration of solidarity with Ilan and his family.

Note: MRAP stands for Movement against Racism and for Friendship among Peoples. Today it is a Muslim civil rights organization that provides legal representation for those who claim to be the target of discrimination. MRAP evolved out of an older post-war agency designed to protect Jews from anti-Semitism.

The Communist Party and the MRAP Are placing their partisan politics above the sorrow and the remembrance that we owe to Ilan Halimi, and above the great leap forward that France needs to make.

Son of a resistance hero who was tortured several times by the Nazis in the Lubeck prison camp, Philippe de Villiers has nothing to learn about democracy from extreme leftist groups such as MRAP or SOS-Racism.

Philippe de Villiers affirms more strongly than ever that he will participate in Sunday's demonstration as a spokesman for republican unity as it struggles against Islamist separatism.

Video from London

While GalliaWatch is devoted primarily to France, this video is worth watching. It was posted at littlegreenfootballs.com. It is a twelve-minute video of the Muslim riots outside the Danish Embassy in London on February 3, 2006. At one point they shout 7/7 is coming - a reference to the London subway attack and a undeniable threat of things to come. Windows Media Player is required.

The Murder of Ilan

The murder of a young Jewish man has galvanized French sympathy for the victim and aroused fury toward his killers. There has been an incredible outpouring of commentary at several websites and it is impossible to print even a small sampling of the emotions pouring forth so spontaneously . Ilan Halimi was abducted on January 21 after falling into what we might call a "honey trap". An employee in a telephone store, he was chatted up by a young woman and they set a date to meet. He was then kidnapped and held for ransom, but no one picked up the money. He was found still alive on February 13 and died en route to the hospital.

This is the latest in a long succession of crimes committed by non-assimilable immigrants, but it was particularly horrific. Ilan was found naked, covered with stab wounds and burns - they had poured acid over his wounds. This torture went on for three weeks. Apparently, Ilan was the fourth young man to be seduced in this way, but the others managed to escape and were able to aid the police in creating a description of the girl and the killers. While this was unquestionably a crime of antisemitism (three of the four who escaped were also Jewish), it is to be remembered that all ethnic Europeans are potential targets. Here is a sampling of comments from just one page of one website - France-Echos:

- this time reality surpasses in savagery even a script by Bertrand Tavernier...Fate closed in tragically on Monday morning for a young man of twenty-three. On the side of the road in Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois...not far from the train station, below the Perry-Vaucluse psychiatric hospital, a passer-by saw someone stumble and collapse along the railroad tracks. His body was burned, stabbed, bound, and covered with wounds made by a club, according to a police source. There were marks of violence and torture over 80% of his body, which was covered with hematomas. He could not talk. He died en route to the hospital.

- B'nai B'rith of France, a Jewish NGO that fights against all forms of racism and anti-Semitism, has learned with sorrow of the crime perpetrated against Ilan. Despite the heinous nature of this act, everything points to this also being a crime of racism and anti-Semitism. For in fact, three of the four other attempts of this type were directed at individuals of the Jewish faith. Thus, B'nai B'rith requests that the authorities shed light on this odious act and inform us of the results of the investigation.

- Enough! The nazi-islamists continue to make Jews their victims in France, and various excuses are used to cover up these racist crimes. Since the start of the wave of nazi-islamist violence against Jews, five Jews have been killed in France in five and a half years by Muslims. During last November's "festivities" (referring to the 2005 riots), that they labeled as "disturbances", at least three Frenchmen were killed by local jihadists. Officially, none of these eight crimes were blamed on nazi-islamists by the agents of the French judiciary. It would be an insult to real judges to call those guys judges!

- Unfortunately, nothing remains of the life of Ilan Halimi. Unfortunately, there will always be crimes, and the assassins will never be punished.

- What we can no longer tolerate is the automatic laxness in favor of the criminals, whenever the nazi-islamists are involved. But the worst thing is those who collaborate with these thugs, and those who are the most worthy of spite are the so-called Jews who accommodate themselves to this indulgence towards the Muslim killers!

- Faced with the cowardice of the judiciary...the anger of the French is mounting. It is increasing. Soon, it will cry out for vengeance!

- The parallel between Islamism and Nazism is becoming more and more obvious, causing the same undesirable consequences. Long live the Jewish community! Although I do not share their beliefs, I praise the fine general behavior of the Jews, who don't cause one millionth of the crimes caused by a not-insignificant fringe of the French Muslim community.

- The record of violence and of barbarity in Chirac's France is monstruous. The French are always mourning victims of this daily threat. It's a scandal. Our children are delivered to thugs and racketeers, discipline and patriotism are no longer values passed on and defended by our authorities, and the culture of barbarians has spread everywhere and is considered a model to follow. They still try to make us believe that the flood of immigrants will bring growth and security to our country; all this while unemployment explodes, the debt is through the roof, Islamism progresses, attacks and riots are on the increase. Enough! This is not possible! Stop the massacre! What is your report card, Mr. Chirac and Mr. Sarkozy? What are your plans? More immigration? More insecurity? More Islamization?...

- Not one word from the Muslim community nor its representatives on this new horror... Not a word of condemnation, of compassion, of condolences to the family!

- On hearing the news of the discovery of the lifeless body of Ilan Halimi, I cried a great deal, not just because of his age, but most of all because of the suffering this poor Ilan had to endure for hours and days on end.

- Rotten collaborators - both journalists and politicians. You will pay for your crimes one day!

- Enough! Enough! Enough of Islam!

- Islam Go Home!

- This kidnapping inaugurates what I have feared for months - the Algerization of France.

- According to one source, things began moving rapidly on Thursday morning when a young blond woman fitting the police sketch turned herself in to the Montrouge police, saying she had recognized herself in the drawing. She admitted having lured the young men, stressing that she did not know what was going to happen to them. She was placed under surveillance of the criminal brigade and provided them with the names of the gang members.

- The media prefer to poison our minds with anti-Americanism and the Abu Ghraib torture rather than to stress the antisemitic torture of young Ilan in our very own country! They give no information on the suspect they arrested. A greater collaborator I cannot imagine! "No, my fellow countrymen, this is not an racist act, but just an unfortunate assault like so many (but not so many as the extreme right-wing claims), and if the guilty party turns out to be a North African, it is not his fault, he was just acting in rebellion against zionist racist imperialism!"

- FRANCE, WAKE UP! LONG LIVE FRANCE! LONG LIVE AMERICA AND ISRAEL!

- ...(we should) all wear the star of David as the King of Denmark did when the Nazi hordes invaded his country!

- ...we know that justice will not be done, even if they are arrested, since only the death penalty can punish such a barbarity.

- Death penalty for complicity in this murder. For the judges who will let this scum go free...

- And the death penalty for the lawyers who defend them, when it can be proven that they knew they were guilty.

- As an ex-patriot, I can assure you that the Americans are saddened by this affair that they are following with interest and concern. All of our thoughts go out to Ilan's family.

- Thank you, courageous Frenchmen. I have transmitted these messages to a Dutch blog, to people in the same fight as yourselves.

- I no longer believe in the French justice system; remember the poor photographer just before that sh-- in the suburbs (referring to the 2005 riots); ...for us Jews and for all the Frenchmen who want to save France, we have to move quickly. I can remember Algeria and now it's even worse with Chirac and de Villepin. I'm writing from the USA...where people are talking about future kidnappings of Jews and Christians; we must destroy Islam.

- Obviously ethnic Frenchmen aren't dying off fast enough through population replacement, so they decided to use more radical methods.

Is Le Pen's Mask Falling Off?

This article appeared in the New York Sun a few days ago. Accessible only to subscribers, it was posted at Lawrence Auster's VFR website under the title "Has Le Pen surrendered to Islamization?"

France's Le Pen To Strike a Deal With Muslims
By MICHEL GURFINKIEL
February 17, 2006

It looks like a political oxymoron, but Jean-Marie Le Pen's National Front is poised to strike an alliance with France's large immigrant Muslim community.

A generation after France's right-wing party began its surge with a tough anti-immigration campaign tinged with both racism and anti-Semitism, three factors are coming into play that could spell a strategic realignment.

These factors, which are still little grasped outside political circles in France but will have an enormous impact, include:

* The Islamization of France is largely a fait accompli. It is assumed that 6 to 8 million citizens or residents of France, 10% to 13% out of a global population of 62 million, are Muslim by now. And that the Muslim community, being more prolific, is much younger than the rest of the population: As much as 25% of French citizens or residents under 20 is Muslim, with the number reaching 40% or 50% in the big cities.

* The National Front is surprisingly popular among Muslim immigrants or second-generation Muslim citizens. For all its campaigning about immigration, Mr.Le Pen's party has always extended support to Arab and Islamic causes abroad, from Saddam's Iraq to Arafat's or Hamas Palestine, and from Al Qaeda to Iran. And it is as firmly anti-American and anti-Jewish as the Muslim community itself tends to be.

* The attraction of the French far left, which accounts for another 20% of the national vote, toward Islam, rabid anti-Americanism, and even anti-Semitism, a phenomenon underscored by the emergence of Dieudonné, a former liberal music-hall humorist who has turned into an enormously popular French equivalent of Louis Farrakhan. Dieudonne, the son of a black Camerounese father and a white French mother, claims that Jews were the main European slave traders in the 17th and 18th centuries. He refers to civic and educational programs about the Holocaust as “memory pornography.” He has welcomed the electoral victory of Hamas in Palestine. According to the philosopher Bernard-Henri Levy, he is in moral terms “Le Pen's son.”

Mr. Le Pen's inner circle seems to have entertained such a strategy for quite a time. Back in 1999, Samuel Marechal, one of Mr. Le Pen's sons-in-law, stated that France was becoming “a multi-ethnic and multi-religious society,” and that “Islam was now France's second religion.”

This was greeted by an outcry among the Front's rank and file and Mr. Marechal had to step down from various positions. Still, he remained one of Mr. Le Pen's closest advisors.

More recently, Jean-Claude Martinez, a National Front member of the European Parliament and Mr. Le Pen's “strategic adviser,” has reiterated Mr. Marechal's challenge in a book issued under the improbable title To all French citizens who may have voted for Le Pen if only once in their life.

He argued that the National Front must adjust to globalization, forget about some of its founding myths, like “Joan of Arc fighting an alien invasion", and welcome immigrant blacks and Arabs into the national fold.

He even expressed enthusiasm for black and Arab rap, as long as it is sung in French rather than English. This time there was no talk of disciplinary measures against the heretic.

Various sources are now reporting that Mr. Martinez is supported by Marine Le Pen, Jean-Marie's eldest daughter and heir apparent.

During the 2005 riots, when even communist and socialist mayors were asking for police and even army deployment in the French urban communities, the National Front refrained from any active anti-immigrant or anti-Islamic campaigning.

Over the last weeks, in the wake of the crisis over the Danish cartoons, the National Front has sided with Muslims in their claim that “religious sensibilities must be respected.”

“We have nothing against Islam as a religion,” the National Front Federation of the Var county, in Southern France, stated earlier this month.

Political analysts wonder how far the experiment can go. The real issue, many analysts say, is a schism within the French far right on who is the chief enemy.

The National Front has always been a coalition of two very distinct political families: Neofascists, like Mr. Le Pen himself, and traditional, Christian right-wingers.

Neofascists think Jews and Americans are the chief enemy, rather than Arabs and Muslims. In a way, they even tend to celebrate Arabs and Muslims as fellow fascists. As for Christian right-wingers, they see Arabs and Muslims as the chief enemy.

For years, Mr. Le Pen has been pretending he is a Christian right-winger rather than a neofascist and that resistance to Muslim immigration is his major concern. Now he has emerged on the side of the neofascist branch and is ready to drop the anti-Muslim issue.

The Christian right-wingers - who may have provided more than 50% of the party activists and more than 50% of the voters - are horrified, feel betrayed and have started deserting en masse. Many are turning to Philippe de Villiers, France's chief Eurosceptic, who is quickly reorganizing his own party, Mouvement Pour la France or MPF, into a nativist, Christian-minded, anti-Muslim group.

According to the newspaper Libération, the global National Front membership has dropped from 40,000 in the late 1990s to 20,000 in 2002 and to 12,000 in 2005.

According to CSA, a polling institute, support for Mr. Le Pen among prospective voters has dropped to 9% in February from 11% in December and 12% in September. During the same period, MPF's support more than doubled to 7%. What remains to be seen is whether Le Pen will actually compensate the Christian right-wingers' hemorrhage with a substantial influx of Muslim supporters.

Islamic leaders in France are advising their followers to act as “democratic and responsible citizens,” i.e., to register as prospective voters and to enter as full-fledged activists into all major political parties, either right or left. Indeed, a reconstructed, Muslim-friendly National Front stands a good chance to win many of them.

Europe in Darkness

This was posted at Israpundit, a blog new to me. The details of the murder of Ilan Halimi will be the subject of a later post:

February 20, 2006
“The Lights are going out all over Europe…”

By Jerry Gordon, former US Military Intelligence Officer and Middle East Affairs Analyst for American Congress for Truth

Andy Bostom, author of The Legacy of Jihad called me fresh off a plane flight into Boston Logan’s airport from Amsterdam. Andy had been at a conference convened by the Pym Fortune Foundation (named in honor of the memory of the assassinated Dutch Prime Minister candidate) held under tight security at The Hague in Holland during this long Presidents Weekend here in the US.

Andy’s first comment to me was, “its over in Europe.” A reference to encroachment of Islamism across the cultural and territorial landscape in what Bat Ye’or has taken to call Eurabia - the title of her book on the same subject.

She was there at the conference, as were Daniel Pipes, Robert Spencer , Paris-based American ex-pat and writer, Nidra Poller, David Littman, Ibn Warraq, Bruce Bawer, author of the just published book, While Europe Slept: How Radical Islam is destroying the West from Within, by Doubleday. Bawer is another American ex-pat who has been living in Norway since 1998. Walter Lacquer had just given Bawer’s book a favorable review in the Wall Street Journal in a piece entitled “A Dire Continental Drift.” They were in the Hague to meet with other scholars and analysts and confer with European members of parliament and senior bureaucrats from countries like Holland and Denmark.

Bostom said as courageous as the Danish are, they too have lost. He gave as examples the fact that all meat used in Danish school cafeterias has to be “halal.” Further Denmark has had to segregate all public swimming pools by sex to accede to Muslim demands.

While Bostom believes that fully 50 percent of the population throughout European countries bridles at the loss of western values of tolerance and free expression to the intimidating demands of Muslim minorities, from what he heard these same minorities may be pushing for control of mini-states within these countries - subject to Muslim sharia law.

As Andy noted Melanie Philips in the UK is readying a new book with the working title of “Londonstan” a send up on the obvious Islamization going on in Great Britain.

One only had to view the vast crowds converging on London again this weekend for more massive Muslim protests against those now hoary Danish Cartoons. Or the fact that Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi had to sack Minister for Institutional Reform Roberto Calderoli, for displaying a tee shirt with one of the controversial Mohammed cartoons, after the Libyans endeavored to destroy the Italian Embassy in Benghazi in rioting that resulted in 11 dead.

But then there was the weekend email from French documentarian, Pierre Rehov to me about the anguish of his daughter over the barbarous kidnapping, torture and murder of a young French Jew, Ilan Halimi. His closing remark was "things are getting worse here everyday." Yes, like young French Muslim toughs parading and shouting “Mort aux Juifs” in central Paris.

A Dutch professor, now living in Malaysia, claimed that Christians in Malaysia have more rights than Muslims in Denmark. He was roundly corrected by the Danish speaker at the Conference, Lars Hedegaard.

Even Dan Pipes, Bostom recounted had to admit at the conference that his previous expectations about fostering progressive moderate Muslims may have been in error and that there are minimal numbers of the umma who would fight for internal reformation.(...)

I’m reminded of a cartoon from an ancient edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica 1940 Year Book that graced the shelves in my home as a young kid growing up outside of Boston during WWII. The Cartoon showed a clearly Nazi stalhelm or helmet with SS runes being used to snuff out a single candle. The inscription below, I came to realize later in life was first uttered by British liberal foreign secretary, Sir Edward Grey on the eve of the outbreak of World War I:

"The lamps are going out all over Europe; we shall not see them lit again in our lifetime.”

Demonstration Set for February 24

Several French resistance groups have combined to organize a demonstration in support of Denmark. It is scheduled for Friday, February 24. This article is from voxgalliae.

Islam will not become Law in France!

The grave situation in which all of Europe, and France in particular, finds itself necessitates that lucid citizens, determined to remain masters of their own destiny, protest their opposition to the renunciation of the values on which their country was founded:

Spiritual values
Democratic values
Cultural values

Our civilization cannot tolerate assaults on our freedom of thought and expression, even with respect to a religion, by an Islam bent on conquest.

Physical attacks against embassies, military bases, and citizens of European countries residing in Muslim countries, are not in proportion to the debate that the publication of a few cartoons in a Danish newspaper last September engendered.

For the French, we must not back off one inch. We are at home in France, just as a Dane is at home in Denmark. Our sovereignty is not negotiable nor is our honor for sale.

Massive, calm and determined - such will be the demonstration by Frenchmen determined to remain Frenchmen.

No Contradictions

From Via-Resistancia this brief message dated February 11, 2006:

Thousands of Muslims, surrounded by police forces deployed in great numbers, demonstrated in Paris this afternoon protesting the publication of the Danish cartoons. They marched behind a large banner proclaiming, "Respect for Religions, Freedom of Expression, No Contradictions"!

If that doesn't reveal the true Muslim mentality! A freedom of expression that excludes contradiction! In other words, a concept as paradoxical, as irrational as bacon grease and ice water, or even "democratic Nazi", "liberal communist", and (why not?) "secular Muslim".

The most amazing thing is that these people are so indoctrinated, that they cannot even see their own foolishness.

The Blue Revolution

The Blue Revolution is a patriotic resistance movement initiated by Claude Reichman, a French busunessman, turned activist. The participants wear blue scarves as identity. At his website, he explains:

The Blue Revolution is spreading like a brush fire.

Two months after the launching of the Blue Revolution, no one in the French media has mentioned it. Yet, in two months several hundreds of thousands of partisans have rallied to the cause on the Internet! It's more than a good start, it's a brush fire. It's also a world-wide first. So much so that even in the US, in Canada, in Australia and tomorrow everywhere, Blue Revolutions are being created whose members all sport the blue scarf.

Why such a phenomenon? Because throughout the Western world beset by terrifying dangers that loom on the horizon, there is a serious misrepresentation. The great majority of Western peoples, and the French first among them, are attached to traditional values, even though we know they have to adapt to the times. But we must not renounce them! But it is precisely this renunciation of values that the chattering classes are guilty of. Then they drag in their wake almost all of the governments, who fancy that those who write for newspapers and talk before microphones are really representing the people. That is false! They are only representing themselves.

Recently there were two significant events. In the US, George W. Bush was re-elected without difficulty, though the media were against him and predicted a crushing defeat. In France, in the referendum of May 29, 2005 (for the European constitution) the no's won comfortably even though the media had campaigned for a yes. But no lesson was learned. There is still endless chattering, pandering to the most deviant elements of our society, stigmatizing those who opposed the constitution, and insulting the people. Well, the people have decided not to take these insults any longer, not to "let themselves be spat upon", as I said recently, which, by the way, resulted in an impressive number of approving letters. The people have unhesitatingly joined in this Blue Revolution that has been launched as a bottle is cast in the sea.

Of course, this means that we have obligations and we will fulfill them. The first is to state the facts as we see them and as the people see them. The second is to work tirelessly and to reject any notion of easing up. We will do this with the joy and the enthusiasm that are always present at those blessed moments in history when a great people set about to save their nation and prove themselves to be worthy of their past. And so, let us cry out with all our strength and with one voice: Vive la France!

Vichy or Free France - Again

This message from Via-Resistancia arrived two days ago. Philippe Val, quoted in the beginning, is editor-in-chief of a French satirical weekly called "Charlie Hebdo", and was criticized for publishing the Mohammed cartoons. In riposte, Val says he will publish cartoons on the holocaust that an Iranian newspaper is about to print. These cartoons are Iran's way of denying the holocaust, but Philippe Val's assumption that seeing the cartoons will bring about a change in French perceptions is a bit optimistic.

"Is this Vichy or Free France?

For now, we have decided to publish the cartoons on the holocaust, in the name of the fundamental fight against denial", declared Philippe Val, stressing that it is not about defending freedom of expression. For Val, the purpose of publishing the cartoons of Mohammed was to defend democracy, one basic principle of which is freedom of expression against all forms of obscurantism, including that of Muslims which has become, within Europe, a powerful censor. But publishing the Iranian cartoons on the holocaust will allow the French people to see for themselves the sordid nature of Iranian denial and Islamic anti-Semitism.

All of which will be of some use since some French still allow themselves to be manipulated by talk of "appeasement"...

Still, this crisis will have been "beneficial", so to speak, since it has undoubtedly revealed the true face of Islamic totalitarianism. They have seen that all that talk about a "religion of peace and love" was a shameful lie perpetrated by frightened elitists who had already accepted Muslim domination over our society and who had given up defending our way of life, our democratic principles, the first one being freedom to express an opinion. Europeans have also been able to judge the extent to which their leaders are cowards, choosing censorship over freedom in order to preserve their wretched power.

The French, in particular, have been completely intoxicated for 30 years by the official propaganda of "anti-racism", a term deformed and utilized by the worst Islamist and leftist organizations. Now, however, they have all they need to discard the lies in which they have been imprisoned by the media and the political elite: from the November 2005 riots and the separatist aims of the Muslims resulting from a cowardly absentee state, to the violence of Muslim hatred toward our freedom of expression that is spreading everywhere, to the attack on the night train last New Year's Eve. No one can say "I did not know"...

No one will be able to claim he was manipulated, such is the clarity of the truth revealed. To those who still believe the lies, it will be enough to retort: so where was the so-called "immense majority of moderate Muslims" to protest against the November 2005 riots and the February 2006 violence? Where were all the "moderates", the "secularists", the "democrats", the "pacifists" and the "liberals" to protest against Islamist hatred? Are the elite the only ones who know them? Or are they, like Boubakeur, the so-called "moderate" rector of the Paris mosque, an illusion, a political front for Muslim totalitarianism?

...It was indeed Boubakeur who legitimized the November rioters by going to the mosque allegedly attacked by our gendarmes (a false accusation) in order to express his "solidarity" with his Muslim brothers - an expression that covers everything. It was also Boubakeur who began legal proceedings to censor freedom of speech in France and who yesterday hurled threats warning us of "consequences".

You have to be deaf, dumb and blind to still believe that Islam is compatible with the West, with democracy. And yet, until the STO was established many French still considered Pétain as a saviour and German propaganda as coin of the realm. More than the "vel d'hiv" it was the STO that impelled many French to resist. Once again, every Frenchman will have to..choose between Vichy and Free France.

Note: STO (Service du Travail Obligatoire) - a law passed on February 16,1943 by Germany requiring the recrutement of all Frenchman between the ages of 20 and 22 for forced labor in Germany. This induced many Frenchmen to join the resistance movement.

Note: Vel d'hiv is short for Vélodrôme d'hiver, a sports arena that was the site of a police round-up of 8000 Jews on July 16 and 17, 1942. The French authorities were at this point controlled by Hitler and collaborated willingly. The Jews were forced to survive there several days in the worst possible conditions - no beds, no food, no water, no hygiene. Some managed to get their children out, some died, most were eventually sent to Auschwitz. The operation was considered a "failure" by the authorities because originally 22,000 to 24,000 Jews were supposed to be collected.

Is Le Pen a Handicap?

Here is a different take on Le Pen, i.e., that he is more of a handicap to the conservatives than an asset. It is from a longer article by Denis Greslin. The point about Mitterand was news to me. The article first appeared on December 2, 2005.

“I am probably going to shock some readers, but the only thing that allows this political system to remain in place is the presence of Le Pen. A political bogey-man, who relapses into anti-Semitic ravings in order to show that he is still a servant of the system, attracts sincere voters who imagine him to be an adversary of multi-culturalism and of Islamization.

Alas! Le Pen is an ally of Islam, with whom he shares the same enemies: the United States and the Jews. And should Le Pen win 30% in the next presidential election, what would change? Nothing! However, by his presence, he prevents the development of a great popular movement, free of excesses, but firm in its values and principles. This is the role attributed to him by Mitterand in the early 80’s, that he pursues to the end, discarding people of quality, and forcing the others into silence. And after Le Pen? Certainly a troubled period for the Right, but (also) the possibility of a renewal which will allow us at last to emerge from the opposition and win back power.”

Europe's Infatuation With Islam

Several months ago this article by Anne-Marie Delcambre, which I have abridged, appeared at Liberty Vox. It was originally refused publication, but fortunately found its way onto the Internet. The topic is the strange and powerful attraction Islam exerts on Europeans today:

One of those most responsible for this Islamophilia is indubitably the great orientalist Louis Massignon (...) Now, Massignon and his theory about the famous Muslim mystic Hallaj, executed in 922, had an enormous influence on Christian and Muslim intellectuals. Massignon compares Hallaj to the figure of Christ. He works out a common identity between Fatima, daughter of the Prophet and the Virgin Mary. Above all he affirms that Islam is an Abrahamic religion... (His) ideas were to be used by the Vatican II Council in those passages relative to Muslims.

One should not be surprised that the literature on Islam which developed after the Council promoted Islamophilia even further. Massignon saw Islam as an "Abrahamic schism". Catholics of the 21st century are wildly enthusiastic about the religion of "The Other"; faith is without boundaries and the emotional pull towards Islam is no longer containable. One's love for Muslims must be limitless...

(...) the literature favorable to Islam, says Alain Besançon, is most often written by Catholic priests who were disciples of Massignon or influenced by that great orientalist. Their attraction for Islam derives from several feelings.

First of all, these "ecclesiastics, alarmed by the loss of interest in faith and church attendance in Christian countries, particularly Europe, admire Muslim devotion....They feel it is better to believe in something than in nothing at all..." They see the near-empty churches and in contrast, they note that the mosques are full, even if these mosques are cellars or run-down buildings. The churches three quarters empty, the triumphant secularism, the contempt for the religious life all have become unbearable to Catholic priests...they feel sympathy for the community of Islam where everyone is close, where "the believers are brothers"! But they forget rather quickly, or they don't realize that "the Muslim is the brother of the Muslim", not the brother of the non-Muslim.

The second reason for the Catholic priests' Islamophilia lies in the "importance of Jesus and Mary in the Koran, without regard for the fact that this Jesus and this Mary are homonyms with nothing in common but the name with the Jesus and Mary that they know." This last point is very serious, stresses Alain Besançon "because it upsets the relationship between Christians and Jews." Thus for Catholic priests, the Muslims appear "better" than the Jews, since they honor Jesus and Mary, which Jews do not. ..

This advantage is increased by the fact that Judaism appears more closed in. Islam is universalist, addressing all peoples, according privilege to none...(The) Catholic imperceptibly distances himself from the Jewish Bible with the implicit reproach that (Jews) stayed with their own kind, never accepting the coming of he Messiah...

A second source of Islamophilia consists of secular intellectuals, often atheists and politically of the extreme left. They are hardened third-worlders in a permanent state of repentance and guilt. They flagellate themselves for being white colonizers, exploiters. They wail and ask for forgiveness but they have also decided to make amends for the evil caused by the Crusades, for the injustice of having failed to acknowledge the grandeur of Islam. And so we are witnessing, on the part of these intellectuals, a revision of the past and of history, which is entirely favorable to Muslims. It is no longer possible to criticize or to be ironic. One must restore pride in these humiliated peoples and present their religion in a positive way. The guilty ones are the Europeans with their desire for conquest. Jihad is no longer called "holy war" but simply a spiritual combat within oneself.

The next question one may ask is: why is public opinion so willing to accept as normal this misinformation that defies reason?

The first explanation is the presence in European countries of millions of Muslims. They are here to stay; they must be integrated. So, we must see the positive side of the situation. Western societies are aging and Muslim youth is a gain that we must take into consideration and learn to love. Economically we cannot ignore them and they trouble our conscience. Westerners, if they are Christian, feel doubly guilty. They recall that they must welcome the foreigner, especially the poorest foreigner, because Christians want to be charitable. Economic guilt coupled with religious guilt. This religious guilt is all the more legitimate since the Pope himself repented, acknowledging guilt for what had happened in the past.

The second explanation is that this Islamophilia leads us to forget the dark legends of Islam - that negative image reflected by the mirror of the Christian West. Unfortunately, side by side with this comes the unavowed temptation to reduce our guilt towards the Jewish people, to erase the horrible past of the Shoah and the memory of the Holocaust. The Christian Islamophiles indeed become the friends of Muslims and the enemies of Israelis. They liberate themselves from the guilt generated by the genocide by treating the Zionist Jews as persecutors. So it is that certain Christian communities make of the Palestinians a substitute for the figure of the persecuted Jew, the effect of which is to eradicate the errors committed during the Nazi era...

Since Vatican II no one would dare accuse the Jews of deicide, but the Christians have no fear of calling Israeli leaders executioners. Thus, they can denounce Zionist arrogance, arm in arm with Islamo-leftists. So it is that this strange alliance is explained by the guilt that both groups feel, of course, towards Muslims but also towards Jews, and in the final analysis it is the Jews who pick up the tab and pay the price for this Islamophilia. For Islamophiles of all stripes close their eyes to anti-Semitic remarks made by Muslims, placing the blame on Israeli politics and excusing this new anti-Semitism on grounds of economic hardships of these underprivileged Muslim populations...

A colleague, Véronique Lippmann, Professor of Italian, wrote to me about "dewy-eyed" Islamophilia which blinds itself to anti-Semitic remarks made by young Muslims: "this dewy-eyed Islamophilia does not, however, hesitate to denounce anti-Semitic acts when they are committed by the extreme right. How can you accuse of anti-Semitism a victim of racism? As if the one precluded the other. Anti-Semitism is only recognized if it comes from the extreme right with no allusion to religion. In the name of anti-racism they have trivialized anti-Semitism...

But Islamophilia was not born when European countries were powerful. Jacques Ellul notes, "I will add one rather unpleasant point: this guilty conscience (on the part of intellectuals and many Christians) emerged at the moment when we were defeated. As long as we were the strongest, we held on to the clear conscience of the 'civilizer'."

Islamophilia stems from the fact that Muslims, by virtue of their numbers, are economically strong. In European countries, Muslims represent a powerful electoral factor. Add to that the problem of conversions to Islam that are becoming increasingly numerous. Girls marry Muslim boys and their children are automatically Muslim. Boys convert to Islam - which is easy for them - in order to marry Muslim girls. The de-Christianized society cannot stop them. To leave Christianity for Islam is like a "breath of fresh air", an exotic perfume. As for women, some Western women feel ill at ease in a society where there is danger of spinsterhood and fear of solitude, so for them to marry a Muslim satisfies the need for a husband and children, all within the framework of a traditional marriage.

Jane Benigni rightly points out another sociological factor: men who are weary of the claims of feminists and the demands of liberated women might not look with displeasure on a society in which a submissive woman was back in the kitchen! And why not several women... submissive of course.

At the same time, I will quote the observation of Doctor André Nahum, who has chosen to repeat Moshe Katzav's warning regarding the future of the diaspora. The Jewish people are rapidly losing ground demographically, economically and culturally. Out of 60 million Frenchmen, 360,00 of them claim to be Jewish. And Dr. Nahum adds: "We are far from the 600,000 or 700,000 of times gone by...

The concepts of "secularism" and of "human rights" have been imperceptibly hollowed out or deflected from their original meaning. But hard-core Islamophilia (...) finds many advantages in this, besides freedom from the guilt that is to a great extent at the heart of this love for Islam. One can easily guess the advantages. Indeed, Christian Islamophiles are hoping that with the support of the Muslims they will be able to recover some lost religious ground and to take a bite out of this secularism that they have never really fully accepted. Secular Islamophiles on the left see in the numbers of Muslims a political buttress against Israel, America and the politics of free enterprise.

The Jews will pay the cost. Many Jews feel anxiety faced with this Islamophilia because they sense that they will be considered as being in the way and guilty. They must be seen as guilty so that the two other religions can be free of the debt towards them. These two other religions have been inspired by Judaism - Christianity by claiming to perfect it and Islam by retrieving it, absorbing it and accusing the Jews of having falsified the texts. For Muslims, the true Torah, the authentic Gospel can only be found in the Koran. The true disciples of Abraham, Moses or Jesus are the Muslims...

Many Muslims are convinced that the Koran is the only truth. Now, in this sacred text, there is no equality between Muslims and non-Muslims. An inferior status of "protected" is even provided for the latter. And in their sudden infatuation for Islam European intellectuals haven't a clue of any of this. These intellectual conformists cannot believe that there are mortifying texts within the religion of an economically deprived people, the religion of the colonized and the exploited...

The twenty anti-Muslim attacks in the Netherlands following the assassination of Theo Van Gogh demonstrate - unfortunately with violence - that many can no longer put up with this dewy-eyed and innocent vision of Islam and that Western society rests on values that that must be firmly respected if we do not want to become victims of the enemies of these values...

France-Soir Offices Threatened

The offices of France-Soir, the first French newspaper to publish the Danish cartoons of Mohammed, were evacuated Monday because of a threat of attack, it has been learned from various sources.

About 60 members of the staff quickly left the offices in the suburb of Aubervilliers near Paris, after someone threatened by phone, around one o'clock in the afternoon, to blow himself up in the office.

Five police cars as well as an anti-bomb squad were sent to the locality. The employees returned to their jobs two hours later.

The anti-terrorism brigade of Paris has opened an investigation.

The Death of France

This two-part article appeared at Front Page Magazine over two and a half years ago, but it may be worth reviewing today. Since then the French patriotic websites have grown considerably in number and level of activity and a serious resistance movement is under way. Whether the country can be saved is unknown, but some are putting up a desperate fight.

Brutal Ritual

Last month from January 10 - 12, 2006 a barbaric ritual took place in the Muslim world. Aïd-el-Kébir is the slaughter of sheep and lambs without first stunning them or anesthetizing as required by law in many countries. While it is one thing for them to do this in their own lands, it becomes an intolerable affront to basic human decency when they do it in their host countries. The problem in France is that the humane laws do not apply to ritualistic slaughter, only to slaughterhouse methods. This e-mail came from Via-Resistancia :

Every year the festival of Aïd-el-Kébir causes much blood to flow. On January 10,11 and 12, 2006, thousands of sheep (about 150,000) will be slaughtered, without anaesthesia, in a sacrificial purge. Often done clandestinely, even inside of elevators or in apartments in the suburbs, it leaves a sickening persistent odor of blood throughout the whole building.

In the name of Islam, the torture of animals, which greatly offends the do-gooders of ecology and animal rights when it comes to bull-fights or hunting, seems to offend no one.

It is true that in our antiseptic societies, it is hard to imagine slitting the throats of animals or the suffering it creates for the lambs who are the victims and who are conscious for several minutes in terrifying pain. Witnesses and neighbors who have heard the cries of these poor animals reverberate in their buildings say the agony can last up to ten minutes.

It is also true that our "tolerance" and the dhimmitude of our media and our police will see to it that this barbaric custom
from another age, in the very heart of our western cities at the beginning of the 21st century, will continue.

All God's creatures deserve the same respect and the same dignity. To torture animals is to torture life itself, to torture mankind. Let us not be surprised that some have already crossed the line and have slaughtered Jews and Christians in the Muslim world - just as if they were animals.

Catholic Priest killed in Turkey

This event should come as no surprise in view of the cartoon furor:

In the climate of extreme tension that has seized the Arab world, where hysterical crowds of tens of thousands of Muslims set fire to European embassies in an attempt to censure our freedom of opinion and expression, a Catholic priest was shot and killed on Sunday in front of his church in Trebizond, a Turkish port on the Black Sea, reported the Associated Press.

The local authorities tried to conceal the motivations of the killer, an adolescent, a "youth" as we would say here (in France), but in the present climate and especially after the inflammatory language of sermons delivered by Imams in Turkish mosques and throughout the Muslim world, there can be little doubt as to the cause of the crime.

Le Pen's Reaction to Cartoon Fury

From france-echos comes this reaction of Jean-Marie Le Pen to the cartoon fury. It is a disappointment and confirms the suspicion that he may be too old and not particularly anti-Islam (or that he has a hidden agenda). This last possibility will be treated in future posts.

" The argument over the cartoons of Mohammed is a good indicator of the state of our society. On the one hand, we have those who believe in nothing and favor the absolute right to mock the foundations of civilization. On the other hand, we have those who seek the respect of believers, but only if they are Muslims - either because they are fighting against Islamophobia, or they have commercial interests, or simply out of fear of violence.

Believers have the right to be respected in their beliefs, be they Muslims, Christians or Jews. If you condemn - and rightly so - the hurtful cartoons of the prophet of Islam, all the more should you condemn the base and permanent caricatures of the Christian God incarnate.

The necessary limits of freedom of expression (concerning the most intimate part of the human being and of one's private life) cannot be a one-way street."

Here is a tiny sampling of reactions from the French readers:

-Has Le Pen become editor of "The Cross"? He's aging. He no longer has his gift of speech.

-It's comical (or sad, as you wish), he seems to be twisting his words in order to regain Catholic support...He says nothing on the threat of Islamic totalitarianism.

-...I think that we should first denounce the massive insane immigration policy carried out for 30 years of which the rise of Islam in France is only the logical outcome...That is why the FN (Le Pen's party) does not take a stand "against Islam as a totalitarian ideology"; it prefers to target immigration as the cause of the destruction of our national identity...

-...On the one hand someone (rightly) accuses immigration, on the other someone(rightly) accuses Islam. Hell, can't you just make one issue out of the two?

-For once...it is Sarkozy's reaction that seems the most acurate to me: "I prefer an excess of caricature to an excess of censure".

-Sarko must have quickly re-read Voltaire and become inspired...The comment is great but can we believe the man who said it? Islam=Arabes=oil=money=big companies=UMP. (note from tiberge: UMP is Sarkozy's party)

Victory for Sultan Jacques the First

This brief article from france-echos proves that you don't shield yourself from Muslim vindictiveness even when you are on their side.

French policy in Arab lands is a great success. Armed Muslims attacked a French cultural center in Palestine, and cried "death to France" in the streets of Cairo.

In Naplouse (West Bank), on Sunday, armed Muslims (defaced) a French cultural center that gave free reading lessons to young Palestinians.

The inscriptions ...said "Allah Akbar" which is, as we all know, a message of peace and tolerance (words copyright Dominique de Villepin).

A man tried to dissuade the demonstrators but he was struck by an M-16 rifle brandished by a "man of peace" (words copyright Dalil Boubakeur)

Armed Muslims demanded that all Europeans leave Naplouse until their governments present official apologies to Islam...no doubt for the cartoons ...published in several European newspapers.

In Cairo Muslims shouted "Death to France".

In Damascus, the government placed all responsability for the attacks on the French, Danish and Norwegian Embassies on the European governments which have not been submissive to Islam regarding the cartoons. The Danish and Norwegian Embassies went up in smoke.

So far, French authorities have not reacted to these declarations of war.

Goals and Motivation

This blog has a modest goal - to present in English translation the current news from France from the point of view of French patriots. Having considered doing this for a while, I was put off by the crushing task of translating a huge amount of information on a daily basis. I have decided to keep my daily workload as limited as possible. This means many articles will just be summarized or excerpted. Whenever the language is too slangy or contains terms of which I have no knowledge, I will simply skip it - at least temporarily. It is not likely that I will be able to keep up this pace for long, however modest my goals, but I would like to start and possibly someone else will pick it up later.

I do not expect to have many readers. The blog is directed to those who have an abiding interest in France but do not know the language sufficiently well to read the many patriotic French websites that have cropped up lately. There may even be some people out there unaware of how close this 2000 year old civilization is to being transformed into something unrecognizable and not at all full of "joie de vivre". Life there, in fact, is becoming nightmarish; entrepreneurs have migrated to other countries; many Jews have left, often to go to Israel; the school system - once so powerful - has deteriorated beyond description, as immigrants and alien ideologies take over; street crime is rampant; and the taboo on free speech known as political correctness has resulted in what they call a "chape de plomb" (lead covering). In other words, no freedom, no nation.

I am here to report, not to argue. My own point of view will be a small part of this blog (I hope). I may not have time to deal with comments, but that will be decided later.
