Taking Office

These photos are among the dozens available at Yahoo, and I'm sure everyone saw scenes of the "investiture" on the nightly news.

From top to bottom: The red carpet; the bestowal of the Légion d'Honneur on the new president; paying homage to the young resistance fighters of Bois de Boulogne who were executed by the Germans during World War II; the parade on the Champs-Elysées; Cecilia Sarkozy and her two daughters by her first marriage with his two sons by his first marriage and the couple's young son Louis; and a student demonstration in Paris protesting Sarkozy's projects (well, it wouldn't be France without a student demonstration).
