Election Update
In my previous post I indicated that Philippe de Villiers' MPF had won only one seat instead of the two expected. I felt uneasy about that news from Yahoo because I remembered reading that the two MPF candidates were elected in the first round with over 50% of the votes.
It seems the information was wrong. Both MPF candidates, Véronique Besse and Joël Sarlot, were indeed elected in the first round.
My best guess is that the information was mistakenly published, for reasons unknown. Possibly it was another party with similar initials.
I have made a correction in the previous post. Apologies for this confusion.
If anyone is interested in the complete list of deputies elected in the two rounds click here. The names are in alphabetical order; unfortunately the party affiliations are not indicated.

Yes, according to the Interior Ministry, Besse and Sarlot won in the 4th and 5th circonsriptions of the Vendée, respectively. Whew!
There was some confusion, as on Télé-Matin on France 2 this morning, I'm pretty sure they showed the MPF with only one seat.
Bad timing on the TVA (VAT) discussion, and with all the talk of a "vague bleue", the Left mobilized and went out to vote, while voters on the Right may have figured there was no need to go out and vote in the 2nd round. Now Sarkozy may re-shuffle things even more to the Left.

To judge by the latest news, Ecology is the most important thing in the world. The whole government has been "reconduit" and now Sarkozy will try to figure out who will best symbolize his desire to be the "Ecologist in Chief", now that Juppé is gone.
Why not José Bové?

Wouldn't surprise me! Or perhaps Nicolas Hulot. However, I heard that Michel Barnier (a former Foreign Minister) is being considered. Back to the Grand Nord for Juppé?
Honnêtement, Dauphin, voilà qui n'est pas gentil du tout pour "nos cousins" du Quebec ! Je les aime bien, alors je ne vois pas pourquoi on leur "refilerait" Juppé, à moins qu'on l'envoie à Hérouxville, pour que EUX puissent lui enseigner quelque chose...

Hérouxville? Franchement, je n'étais pas au courant, Zazie, mais maintenant que je sais où c'est et ce qu'ils ont fait avec leur déclaration, j'y vais et je ne veux pas de Juppé! Pourtant, il doit y faire un froid de canard l'hiver! Peut-être qu'il vaut mieux retourner dans le PACA et renforcer la Droite. Je voudrais aider ma reine, BB, à faire passer une loi qui mettra fin aux sacrifices des animaux en France!
