America's Rush To Islam

As always, Lawrence Auster's website provides a wealth of high-quality information and discussion. He linked to both of these articles, worth reading, and pondering. Do we have a future in the West?
The first article by Thomas Landen, on Barack Obama, is posted at The Brussels Journal.
If I had been asked two months ago “Which Western country runs the greatest risk of electing a Muslim-born leader and how soon do you think this is going to happen?” I would have bet on the Netherlands somewhere in the next decade. Today, it looks as if the first Western country with a Muslim-born leader might very well be the United States next year, when President Barack Hussein Obama enters the Oval Office.
The Europeans do not mind being surpassed. Obamania has struck Western Europe. Two weeks ago, in an attempt to explain Europe’s enthusiasm for Mr. Obama, the left wing German weekly Der Spiegel pointed out that the Illinois senator is the most “European” of all the candidates in the U.S. presidential race. “Many in Europe would like nothing more than a ‘European’ America […] Obama personifies Europe’s hopes for a modern America: black, socially minded and gentle,” the German magazine wrote. As if Europe is black, socially minded and gentle…
The second article from the Daily News, by Carol Iannone, discusses Muslim footbaths in America and their significance.
There's an uproar in the U.K. over recent comments by the Archbishop of Canterbury that, given the country's growing and restive Muslim population, it is "unavoidable" that certain aspects of Islamic law would, at some point, have to be accepted in Britain.
What many Americans do not realize is that there's a concerted effort by some in the American Muslim community to move slowly in a similar direction right here in the United States.
While this effort is not necessarily about Sharia law, it is an attempt by some Muslim Americans to force the rest of us to enable their cultural and religious practices in the public sphere. Instead, they should be assimilating and abiding by general U.S. norms.
One of the front lines of this fight: footbaths.
Growing numbers of Muslims living in the United States are seeking to wash their feet in the sinks of public rest rooms. The foot-washing is part of wudu, the ritual ablutions a Muslim performs before the five prayer sessions he or she observes every day at intervals from morning till night. The ablutions can take several minutes and involve repeated washing or rinsing of the hands, mouth, nostrils, face, arms, forehead, hair, ears and, finally, the feet.

It is standard muzlim practice to keep a low profile where they perceive themselves to be weak. When they see themselves increasingly strong, they begin to demand their "rights" under the host's legal system. This is what is happening right now in America. When they see themselves as dominant, they take over the country and surpress all opposition. England, Sweden, and Holland are on the verge of the third stage right now. This is their game plan and they are very open about it. They are out to conquer the world, if we will just listen to them, they will tell us just that. We refuse to hear them at our own peril.
I do not believe these are fair criteria. While I would never vote for Obama, he's currently a Christian. As you know, I detest Islam and atheism, and see them as respectively the second and first greatest threats to ex-Christendom, and that I would probably never vote for anyone with either set of beliefs, at least to the presidency. But to say it's bad to vote for a convert from those errors is absurd: under those criteria I could not vote for myself.
