Update

I must apologize for the delay in posting. This has happened to me before, as those of you who are regulars know. Too many things converged on me these past three days. First, it has been a furnace on the East Coast, the heat reaching well above 100º Fahrenheit, and this always slows me down. Second, I have been preparing for a short trip out of town that I must make tomorrow (Sunday). So I will try to get back to the grindstone on Monday, if I can rest up from Sunday's activities.

I have not followed the news from France, but will catch up as best I can. I did of course hear about the massacre in Norway, and my heart goes out to all those who lost loved ones and who were terrorized. It is everybody's worst nightmare come true, it is something that stalks all of us in our daily lives, and we must always be cautious of what the news reports say about these killings. So often, the news media are delighted to be able to blame "Christians" and "conservatives". But this type of killing is anti-Christian and as far from conservatism as one can get. The fact that the alleged killer may have been born a Christian or belonged to "conservative" associations or groups does not mean that his inner life was guided by Christian ethics or conservative values. My first thought was that his actions resembled those of Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City killer.

Many will say that the same applies to Muslims, that when Muslims kill innocent people they are not acting in accordance with Islamic law. However, this point is arguable, for the Koran exhorts Muslims to kill the infidel.

We must look at this killer and try to explain his actions in ways the media never will. According to Bruno Gollnisch of the Front National, there are indications at Facebook that he was a member of a Masonic lodge. Another article by Eric Martin at Nouvelles de France has similar information.

For those who prefer an English-language site, see Lawrence Auster's home page. There is more there than I can absorb. This article describes the shock and amazement of his readers as they try to understand what happened. Apparently, these killings and the killer himself Anders Brievik, are not conforming to any recognizable pattern, since Brievik seemed to be a conservative concerned about Islam, and a reader of Gates of Vienna and Jihad Watch. The readers emphasize that this a fatal blow to the anti-Islamic cause, since Brievik will be considered as a typical anti-Islamist. One reader sums it up:

I'm stunned and almost speechless. I'm also still deeply suspicious of the appearances. Should the appearance stand, then, as you say, it is a stunning defeat for the West.

You must read also this article on the killer's "manifesto".

So we have another one of those sudden apocalyptic events, a bolt out of the blue, that characterize the age we live in. This is very hard on the nerves, and we feel the earth quake beneath us. These are dangerous times. We cannot rely on reason or on humane feelings. People are more and more detached from the context in which they were born. They are setting themselves up as Messiahs, avenging angels, warriors of ancient times reincarnated. They read, they absorb what they read, they are fashioned by what they read and they attempt to turn their fantasies into reality, without any humane thoughts for their victims. An age of monsters, of nine-days-wonders, who flash across the sky and disappear leaving death and destruction behind, as well as moral and political confusion.

A horrible, unspeakable act by a monster in Norway, who in addition to all the harm and grief he has caused, has now almost certainly sealed Norway's fate as a multi-cultural society, much as Hitler's violence created the Europe of today.

Though this individual is ultimately responsible for his own actions, I think one must acknowledge a certain danger in invoking the imagery of "wars", "revolutions" or "crusades" in political discussion, for there are unbalanced people out there. One must be careful to awaken people politically, and not rouse rabble or incite the insane.

In any case, prayers for the victims of this barbarity, and for their grieving families.

The last paragraph is an accurate poetic summary of loner violent extremism in our day. I encourage you to write on the atmosphere that encourages the Breiviks of the world at greater length.

Christian on the one side, and muslim on the other, can't be measured on the same scale. They are not congruent units.

Because islam is totalitarian, and in a muslim society you're either in, or you're out.

Norway is a Christian state. The Constitution, Grunnloven, is based on Christianity, but - of course - there is religious freedom for all. Anybody is free to belong to, or not belong to a religion of their own choice.

Measured on the totalitarian islamic scale, however, people in Christian countries, are regarded as personally Christian as they them selves know islam - by muslims. They don't know this fundamental freedom, since islam doesn't know this freedom.

Which doesn't mean that European media should adopt this islamic measure. But it, obviously does, as we are seeing in this case, in particular.

To know and understand that Christians are not totalitarian Christians the way muslims are muslims, you've got to know and understand islam fundamentally.

Why do people read, absorb and act out?

The islamofriendly apologetic media of sencorship and unstoppable "islamophobia" accusations are shutting down freedom of expression, and are creating a vacuum of boiling frustration and anger.

Do they know what they are doing?

As for unbalanced people out there, dauphin, it seems clear that Anders Behring Breivik had been planning this extremely meticulously, leading a double life, and quite intelligently so.

Nothing, or nobody could stop him. He was so focused on this act which he saw as part of a bigger scheme with a broader perspective, than just the actions of Friday. He has been looking far into the future while working out his unspeakable actions.

@ tiberge

I also meant to say, your last paragraph is extremely well-expressed in summarizing this disheartening era.

His father divorced his mother when Anders Breivik was a boy, and the father and the boy hav hardly had any contacty for years.

The father, a former diplomate to London, and Paris, is remarried and lives in a little village in France, for the occasion left for Spain as international mass media are surrounding their house in the village in France.

Even DM goes for the term "Christian fundamentalist"

"It reveals that the Christian fundamentalist had spent years plotting the attack and kept meticulous records of his preparations."

In many people's mind, Norway is a country with almost only a Norwegian population

To get a better understanding of how this event last Friday could happen, in my opinion, it's critical to understand that Norway is supporting an ever growing muslim immigration, which may lead to the end of Norway as we used to know it.

Somewhere, there is a limit as to how many nonworking indivituals a small country can support financially and otherwise.

".. il y a très peu d'immigration,.."
- Islam expert Mathieu Guidère (Le Figaro)

Visitors to the country's capital would immediately contratict French islam expert Mathieu Guidère.

The Norwegian Foreign Minister pronounced in 2010, that the country of 4,5 million inhabitants will have one million persons with immigrant background in 15-20 years.

Norwegians are leaving East Oslo, as little girls on a daily basis are facing being called a whore, and in many schools there are practically no ethnic Norwegian children. In other words, several schools are seeing a percentage of up to 100% of foreign speaking pupils, some of them not knowing Norwegian when they start school.

All rapes on the streets, and gang rapes are committed by foreigners.

Also, there are terrorists like Krekar, the founder of Ansar Al Islam, a former taliban minister, war criminals, terrorist suspects with Norwegian passports, etc. And soon there will be a "Palestinian Embassy" in Oslo.

It is very likely that 'C dans l'air' on France 5, will be debating this event on Monday, and that Mathieu Guidère could be one of the persons invited to the studio.

".. il y a très peu d'immigration,.."

"Donc, le problème ne vient pas de la réalité, mais de la perception que certains individus ont de l'islam, de l'immigration, de la menace terroriste. " (Le Figaro)

So maybe he should be invited do some more research on immigration in Norway?

It is a simple matter of demographics. This would never have happened if Europe had not been violently invaded. Violence breeds violence. The native peoples of Europe are being gradually and systematically displaced by other forces. Terrible and deplorable as the actions of this murderer are, equally intolerable and deplorable is the " soft" displacement and dissolution of the indigenous natives subjected to the invasion and transfomation of their societies, cultures, history , customs and traditions.

The crass murderer ( a deranged assasin) is a product of the demographic conditions which have spawned him.

@ anonymous

He may be meticulous and intelligent, and perfectly able to function with a social veneer, but he is still unbalanced and quite insane to disassociate himself from the suffering of others, which is typical of "the end justifies the means" mentality. There have been many examples of this before.

I do agree with you! Knowing this, just makes you so frustrated when you day in and day out, see that med media and the politicians are not willing to go up to this level. They keep everything on a micro now level, refusing to see the big lines and the bigger picture.

Anything and everything is done for the masses not to see the bigger picture. All the more disgusting to watch, as they pretend to be the good ones, holding hands and roses, the socialist symbol.

And, @tiberge

I noticed your humble and utter respectful excuse at the beginning of this post, which is highly appreciated, knowing that you put a lot of effort in your work.

Once again I must respectfully recommend caution and prudence over the reactions to this, as new facts seem to surface every other day. We have the example of the New York Times to reflect upon: immediately after the incident the NYT was accusing the Muslims of being behind it. As soon as it was discovered that the murderer was fanatically pro-Israel the NYT is sitting there with egg on their faces.

So let us first wait for the facts to come out, and then we can discuss it realistically.
