Pope Benedict Addresses the Muslims of Germany

Here is the translated text of Pope Benedict's address to the Muslims of Germany, delivered on Friday September 23. From Zenit.
Dear Muslim Friends,
I am glad to be able to welcome you here, as the representatives of different Muslim communities in Germany. I thank Professor Mouhanad Khorchide most sincerely for his kind greetings and for the profound reflections that he shared with us. His words illustrate what a climate of respect and trust has grown up between the Catholic Church and the Muslim communities in Germany and how the convictions we share are becoming visible.
Berlin is a good place for a meeting like this, not only because the oldest mosque in Germany is located here, but also because Berlin has the largest Muslim population of all the cities in Germany.
From the 1970s onwards, the presence of numerous Muslim families has increasingly become a distinguishing mark of this country. Constant effort is needed in order to foster better mutual acquaintance and understanding. Not only is this important for peaceful coexistence, but also for the contribution that each can make towards building up the common good in this society.
Many Muslims attribute great importance to the religious dimension of life. At times this is thought provocative in a society that tends to marginalize religion or at most to assign it a place among the individual’s private choices.
The Catholic Church firmly advocates that due recognition be given to the public dimension of religious adherence. In an overwhelmingly pluralist society, this demand is not unimportant. In the process, care must be taken to guarantee that the other is always treated with respect. This mutual respect grows only on the basis of agreement on certain inalienable values that are proper to human nature, in particular the inviolable dignity of every single person as created by God. Such agreement does not limit the expression of individual religions; on the contrary, it allows each person to bear witness explicitly to what he believes, not avoiding comparison with others.
In Germany – as in many other countries, not only Western ones – this common frame of reference is articulated by the Constitution, whose juridical content is binding on every citizen, whether he belong to a faith community or not.
Naturally, discussion over the best formulation of principles like freedom of public worship is vast and open-ended, yet it is significant that the German Basic Law expresses them in a way that is still valid today at a distance of over sixty years (cf. Art. 4:2). In this law we find above all the common ethos that lies at the heart of human coexistence and that also in a certain way pervades the apparently formal rules of operation of the institutions of democratic life.
We could ask ourselves how such a text – drawn up in a radically different historical epoch, that is to say in an almost uniformly Christian cultural situation – is also suited to present-day Germany, situated as it is within a globalized world and marked as it is by a remarkable degree of pluralism in the area of religious belief.
The reason for this seems to me to lie in the fact that the fathers of the Basic Law at that important moment were fully conscious of the need to find truly solid ground with which all citizens would be able to identify and which could serve as the supporting foundation for everyone, irrespective of their differences. In seeking this, mindful of human dignity and responsibility before God, they did not prescind from their own religious beliefs; indeed for many of them, the real source of inspiration was the Christian vision of man. But they knew that everyone has to engage with the followers of other religions and none: common ground for all was found in the recognition of some inalienable rights that are proper to human nature and precede every positive formulation.
In this way, a society which at that time was essentially homogenous laid the foundations that we today may consider valid for a markedly pluralistic era, foundations that actually point out the evident limits of pluralism: it is inconceivable, in fact, that a society could survive in the long term without consensus on fundamental ethical values.
Dear friends, on the basis of what I have outlined here, it seems to me that there can be fruitful collaboration between Christians and Muslims. In the process, we help to build a society that differs in many respects from what we brought with us from the past. As believers, setting out from our respective convictions, we can offer an important witness in many key areas of life in society. I am thinking, for example, of the protection of the family based on marriage, respect for life in every phase of its natural course or the promotion of greater social justice.
This is another reason why I think it important to hold a day of reflection, dialogue and prayer for peace and justice in the world, which as you know we plan to do on 27 October next in Assisi, twenty-five years after the historic meeting there led by my predecessor, Blessed Pope John Paul II. Through this gathering, we wish to express, with simplicity, that we believers have a special contribution to make towards building a better world, while acknowledging that if our actions are to be effective, we need to grow in dialogue and mutual esteem.
With these sentiments I renew my sincere greetings and I thank you for this meeting, which for me has been a great enrichment of my visit to my homeland. Thank you for your attention!

DISGUSTING!
mUSLIMS ARE SLAUGHTERING CHRISTIANS IN iSLAMIC COUNTRIES!!

??????????????
muslims can have four «wives» at a time, temporary «wives«, concubines and sex slaves.

Where is the church or synagogue being built in a Muslim land and the local imam offering support and gifts??? This scenario is rejected in 56 out of 56 Muslim countries. Even worse, Christians and members of other religions are actively PERSECUTED including ethnic cleansing, torture and murder in multiple Muslim countries. Where's the Christian leader who says "Mosques have no place in a Christian country as long as even bibles let alone churches are unwelcome in Muslim countries"?
Islam shows that it is a hostile politico-religous ideology with no peers among religions, but being more akin to the worst socio-political ideology that humanity has had to overcome.

when a society accepts polygamy, pedophilia increases exponentially.
Obviously the Pope is skirting the truth about Islam and the reality of Muslim marriages. He is thinking only of one thing - the decadence of the West. Like so many Catholic priests even the Holy Father is deluding himself into believing that the Muslim presence is a "good" that can "benefit" the non-Muslims.
He is not uneducated. He knows more than he is saying. But he is, and I hate to say it, shockingly disloyal to his own religion and to the countries that are agonizing under the slow but steady expansion of Islam. No one is benefiting, no European marriage is better off because of the Muslims.
He told the truth once - at Regensburg (Ratisbon). An uproar and some killings ensued, and he never again told the truth. He just skirts the issue and talks about mutual understanding, interreligious dialogues and things like that.
When he says that Berlin is the ideal city for the meeting, I could not help but think of the meeting between Adolf Hitler and the grand mufti of Jerusalem, as they discussed the fate of European peoples, with of course the intent of taking care once and for all of the Jews.
And so many powerful Jews today, such as Soros, have nothing better to do than to finish the job started by Hitler, disguised as benefactors of the oppressed. Through the alchemy of toxic ideas, the Western world has been told to regard the Muslims as "today's Jews" - oppressed, poor, homeless wanderers, in search of the land of milk and honey. To be Islamophobic is tantamount to being anti-Semitic.
This poison has infiltrated the minds of the easily indoctrinated, including, Jews and Catholics, to their eternal damnation.
The only thing I can think in mitigation is that the Pope is the head of a state - the Vatican. Thus he has to be a politician as well.
Separation of church and state does not apply in this case.

BEWARE OF BUSINESS WITH MUSLIMS
«Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the emir of Dubai, plans to build the world's third-largest mosque at the Plaza de Toros in Barcelona. This is currently a famous bull-ring, known as the Monumental, which is a significant work of architecture (admittedly in a neo-Moorish style) in its own right. Last year, the Catalan government voted to ban bull-fighting, however, and it should cease completely by 2012, with the bull ring forced to shut down.
The emir of Dubai has presented proposals to transform the bull-ring into the world's third-largest mosque after those in Mecca and Medina. The plans envisage a prayer room that could accommodate 40,000 people, an open air gathering place for 80,000 people, a conference room, a museum of Islamic history and art, a centre for research on the history of Al Andalus (Muslim-ruled Spain), a restaurant, shops and a centre for Koranic studies.
It is clear the Muslims have marked Spain for recolonisation, following the Muslim precept that once territory is part of the Dar al-Islam, it should never again be allowed to fall into infidel hands.
It is estimated construction would cost 2,200 million euros. This is particularly surreal in view of the fact that this emir ran up extraordinary debts building up his own pseudo-city in its recent construction boom. Once western banks had lent him the money to pay western construction companies to do the building, however, he simply disowned the debts. Because he had arranged the whole thing through front companies, it did not trigger sovereign default or affect his own personal wealth. The debts had been incurred by these front companies on the understanding that the sovereign wealth of Dubai stood behind them, but when it came to the crunch, they were disavowed.
This Dubai construction boom episode probably amounts to what was, in effect, the biggest Muslim wealth-plundering razzia since the sack of Byzantium. But now this epic Muslim con artist wants to do some more damage to the infidels by putting down a marker for the Muslim re-colonisation of Spain!»

islam: anyone who is non muslim is najess, meaning as dirty as a pig or a dog and a good muslim has to wash three times after touching them.
did the pope touch their hands?
It's one thing to say something stupid on the spur of the moment without thinking it through, but it is quite another for such a prominent religious leader to speak such drivel after a chance to think about it at length beforehand and with prior input from other intelligent men.
A brilliant principle about human behavior was revealed to me some time ago. It is that "people usually are the way they usually are."
So let us look at all the Muslim countries in the world and ask, "Where can one find in them this 'dialogue and mutual esteem'?" Answer: it is nowhere to be found. To be a Christian in Muslim countries is literally to live each day with a well-founded fear for your very life.
The Holy Father's idea that this can be hoped for in Germany on the part of resident Muslim subversives is ludicrous. Had he called upon Germany-resident Muslims to celebrate Christmas or to believe in the Easter Bunny then I could have retained some respect for the man. Those things at least are realistic possibilities.

From a scientific point of view, how long would it take for the religion of peace to implode due to pedophilia, inbreed, diseases, etc?
@ Col.B Bunny
Many people feel he is being cautious in order to protect Christian lives. There has been a dramatic increase in murders of Christians throughout the world.
My response to this is: Maybe that is true, but just think of how many Christians will die, be tortured and raped because of his silence.

I cannot answer scientifically, but Islam has survived and expanded exponentially for 1400 years. Some Muslims may indulge in perverse sexual practices, but they also produce large families, and practice polygamy. Moreover, when they conquer they rape the women and produce more children who will be mixtures. So in-breeding may not be a great problem.
But, I am not a scientist. I only know that the white race is more likely to implode right now than the Muslims.
@ Tiberge
I understand the desire to avoid further outrages (by calling attention to the outrageous). No sarcasm intended. However, expediency is always the wrong choice, as someone once pointed out. JFK said there's nothing so permanent as the temporary and, by way of illustration, here we are five years down the road from the Pope's speech in Regensburg after which he made what I'll posit was a temporary movement backwards after telling the God's honest truth about Islam.
You know the definition of diplomacy as the tactic of saying "nice doggy" to a rabid dog while reaching for a shotgun. That kind of expediency I can handle.
Islam is a swinish religion. Perhaps there's a nice way to say this but it's time Western religious and political leaders stopped cowering at the mere mention of this truth.
I agree that the pope knows a lot more than he's saying in public. Alas, that's not something I would say about the Archbishop of Canterbury, but that's another subject altogether.
"Borgia"
Canal+' political project

but??????????
sounds like tiberge has no problems with poligamy!
disgusting!
@ anonymous October 14 1:34 p.m.
I see your point. Of course it was not meant that way. I do not condone polygamy at all. I was trying to show that they produce a lot of children. This was in answer to a comment about the possibility of Islam "imploding" from "pedophilia, inbreeding and disease".
It does not appear likely that Islam will implode from those factors, simply because they have many children through marriages, be they monogamous or polygamous.
Islam could implode from some catastrophic event, as yet unknown, that pits it against a stronger force. I don't know what that force might be. China perhaps?
Regarding the IQ (from another anonymous'comment), it is true that populations that are less intelligent become parasites on a wealthier more intelligent host. In our Western world today, the white population suffers from guilt and is voluntarily taking the blame for the lower intelligence of the "minorities." At some point, the host will either have to fight or die. If it dies, the parasites will die also, or try to find another host. The West cannot survive with ever-growing numbers of violent, low-performing aliens who hate their host.
