French Hotel Magnate Murdered in Paris
A reader just sent me this story about a gangland-style murder in Paris. The victim was Claude Dray, 76, a billionaire hotelier famous for a collection of Art Deco furniture and other objects that he and his wife amassed and later auctioned off for 55 million pounds. His wife Simone was in the United States at the time of the crime.

I know nothing about Dray for now except for the information in the Mail. Since Dray lived in Neuilly-sur-Seine, there are several references to Nicolas Sarkozy, who was mayor of Neuilly from 1983 to 2002.

Thank you for doing the research. I will check from time to time to see if there is anything important. There were lots of articles in English but they all said the same thing. He was apparently not liked in the world of art because of his inflexible ways, but I don't know much more than that. Also he had been threatened before. But I don't know by whom.

One reader jokes about PS Julien Dray (and SOS Racism) who takes such great interest in expensive watches, and was investigated about this some time ago now. Where did he get all those watches from?

I only see this as a joke, and secondly, a pure coincidence that I would put this under the murder case with a victim by the same name, but looking for a relevant tag, I quickly chose "crime", so that's why.
Thought the joke was fun because it's so far fetched.
