Top Secret Predictions

The Polling Commission has obtained from the principal polling institutes a pledge not to perform "exit polls" during the first round of the presidential election on Sunday. This news confirms the information received by Europe 1.

The nine principal institutes (BVA, CSA, Harris interactive, Ifop, Ipsos, LH2, OpinionWay, TNS Sofres, and Via-voice) have also pledged not to communicate any predictions made before 8:00 p.m., as a result of "test polls", to the foreign media who have announced their intent to violate French law.

French radio and television stations have also pledged to keep these predictions secret until 8:00 p.m.

Consequently, any figures floating around during the day "will only be rumors or manipulations," affirmed Marie-Eve Aubin, president of the Polling Commission.

Well, the head of the Polling Commission is in for a big surprise: Belgian and Swiss media have announced that they will conduct exit polls and not be bound by any restrictions to publish them as early as 5pm.

Libération may risk the big fine to get the prediction out early. This way if Marine or Sarko look too high, they can give time to more leftists to rush to the polls.
