Delays - Updated
Update: June 6, 2012 - My absence has been much longer than anticipated. The dehydration resulted in a bladder infection that required antibiotics, which in turn knocked me out. I anticipate that once the treatment is over I will get sick with something else as a result of the drug, since that is always what happens. Which is why I try to avoid drugs - you end up with more problems than you started out with. Several visits to different doctors for various reasons will interrupt my posting this week. I thank everyone who sent advice - keeping irrigated is critical, and plain water is often not adequate - some electrolytes or minerals should be added.
Just an explanation for the absence of new posts this weekend. I have not been feeling well due to another bad case of dehydration following a sudden heatwave last week. This happens to me regularly in the summer and always sets me back. I have had to see a doctor, and am beginning to feel better. I hope to get back to regular posting later today (Monday) or tomorrow.

This is the last week before the first round of the legislative election and Marine Le Pen and all the candidates have been working at full steam. Their goal is to try to bring about a split in the UMP that would result in many voters choosing the FN instead of the party of Nicolas Sarkozy. This is expected to happen especially where there is a "triangulaire" - a three-way race in the second round. And many "triangulaires" are anticipated. So, in some ways this race is even more complex and exciting than the presidential. More about this as soon as I feel rested.
You may have heard about Madonna's spectacle in Tel Aviv, where a giant screen pictured Marine Le Pen with a "swastika", or something very similar. Also, there is the rumor that BHL (Bernard Henry-Lévy) is managing her tour of Israel? I believe the FN is filing a lawsuit. And it's not the first time Madonna has injected her twisted political views into her vulgar performances.
French readers can check this article.
Below a snapshot of the screen.

Tiberge,
Give yourself a break, long enough for you to recover! And have a glass of water every hour, at least. I have found water tastes better with a drop of lemon juice, or with some iced coffee....No sugar, of course!
Yes, Tiberge, I agree with Zazie, take care of your self. But do not take caffeine (coffee, black tea) or alcohol which are diuretics and which will dehydrate you even more! Beyond the issue of liquid, is the importance of replacing body salts and electrolytes. For body salts lost in high humidity, one can find tablets in a pharmacy or health food store, taken under the tongue, but consult a pharmacist. Also there is a product called Emergen-C which has good electrolytes, and can be found in many stores in the US or ordered online. It can be taken daily. Otherwise, adding lemon as Zazie suggested or other citrus is helpful. Glad you are at least beginning to feel better.
As to Marine, she has said if Madonna tries that in France, she'd be dealt with (legally speaking I'm sure).
I'm a bit concerned that Marine may be in peril in her legislative district in the north, according to recent polls which show Count Dracula (Mélenchon) close or ahead.
In any case, I know she could easily find a more reliable district in the southeast if she wanted it.
P.S. - Finally, the legislative campaign clip for the Rassemblement Bleu Marine :

I was sick, too. Not heat related, but a nasty stomach virus. Get rested and get better. I don't do well in the heat, either.
tiberge:)
Good to have you back! It's good to think of different sources of water, like
- tea, cold or hot
- fruits, orange, melon
- vegetables, cucumber
- soups, cold or hot
- water, with and without bubbles
especially during heat waves. If you're not used to drinking much, because you don't feel thirsty, it's even more important to think about it when temperature is rising
By taking the water from different sources, you may avoid the monotony feeling when only drinking plain water.
And I agree with you, zazie, as little sugar as possible. Some time ago you had a post about food, tiberge, and I got the impression that you are careful when it comes to nutrition.
Just remember to drink a lot, and before you get thirsty:)
PS
- And salt..! Make sure you get enough salt in the heat, to keep the balance. Don't you feel like having ham or some other salty things in hot periods?
These are moving pictures, where you see both faces, and you see the swastika on the forehead at the same time as you see Madonna's face
Left-turning swastika, the opposite of the nazi symbol right-turning swastika. The problem is that the clock/counter-clockwise symbols seem to be used both as the nazi-symbol as well as the Hindu/ancient symbol, so both the user and the observer of the symbol may be confused about the message.
- Intriguing
Why would Madonna, a non-French, want to target Marine? Could she be a useful tool?
Here's the video, a rather spectacular show, Oliviero Toscani-like in a way, made to provoke, like he used to with his Benetton-ads.
@ tiberge
Sorry to hear about this, but at least you are in good company with Prince Philip! With any anti-biotic, I think it is important also to take yogurt to replace the intestinal flora that can be destroyed. This may help alleviate some of the effects of the drug. Emergen-C also has a bunch of B vitamins which may help too with the fatigue.
I have empathy with your contretemps with your water works. I had a similar problem which had me reeling and roiling for two months before finally found relief. I used to get penalty shots or kick or rapier sharp thrusts in my kidney everytime I had to pass water. I was bombed with one set on antibiotics followed by another to no effect. Finally they tumbled me into a operating theater and had a vaporization of an enlarged BHP. Strangely enough I had to follow the prescription and pumped my system with 8 large glasses of water. The result of imbibing so much water was an increase in weight around the waistline . Now my trousers don't fit anymore. Best wishes for your speedy and full recovery
Sorry for the second P.S., tiberge, but I just remembered that Vitamin C or citrus might be contra-indicated for anti-biotics since they might reduce their effectiveness. Check the notes that come with the product.

"Why would Madonna, a non-French, want to target Marine? Could she be a useful tool?"
She is cosmopolitan - she lives in England at least part of the time, and her kids (at least one of them) went to school there. She is politically a liberal, and she may know some French. Like many Hollywood stars and entertainers who consider Europe superior to the U.S. she probably regards Marine Le Pen as a Nazi who would support death to the Jews, since Madonna is a convert to Judaism. She obviously espouses the whole left-wing agenda - overt sexuality, homosexuality (Madonna has had homosexual relations, I heard - I'm not certain), pacificism, métissage (one of her children is a métis), etc... Furthermore, Madonna is very intelligent, she has an IQ of 140, she is a businesswoman who peddles sexuality to the young, but who considers herself above the level of her audience (this is my opinion). Therefore, she is peddling not only sex but politics as well, combining the two in a mix that is supposed to be anti-Nazi, but which is instead closer to the spirit of Nazism than to the spirit of show business.
As for her use of the swastika, as one reader above mentioned, I don't know. Maybe she was trying to be ambiguous, to avoid an outright accusation against Marine Le Pen. Or maybe it's something else.
What I don't like is the regal attitude from a woman who corrupts young girls. She has never expressed any concerns over the effect of what she does on the young. At one time striptease and sex shows were restricted - now they are blockbuster spectacles. Complete with sick political messages and innuendo. I prefer the old-fashioned sin.

That is a terrible story. I'm sure the weight will go down eventually, since it was only water. The condition of BHP sometimes requires surgery, so I think you were fortunate. It sounds like they gave you antibiotics before they knew what the problem was. If that's the case, no wonder they didn't work. If you are still drinking lots of water that is probably a good thing - or have you stopped? If you need natural diuretics, asparagus and dandelion are good; if you need water with electrolytes drink coconut water; for general bladder health eat blueberries and pomegranate. BHP is not really a bladder issue, but results in a blockage of urine, hence terrible pain (source: Wikipedia) However it is a good idea to keep things flowing. There are drugs for BPH which you should NOT take. You may be interested in an article from Dr. Mercola:

You may be required to register, but it's free. The authors recommend the herb Saw Palmetto. I don't know if you have heard of it.
Thanks for the advice Tiberge. It seems the surgery was successful. You are quite right they did not know what I had, and the antibiotics did not work. I will try the medicines you have advised ; for good maintenance of the system. Thank you .
@tilberge,
"Like many Hollywood stars and entertainers who consider Europe superior to the U.S."
I agree with you tilberge, but I also think it is many in the American left, who also think this way. Especially the baby boomers. There are actually, quite a few books out there, on why Europe is better.
She is a phoney hypocrite, who puts on pretentious airs.
"What I don't like is the regal attitude from a woman who corrupts young girls. She has never expressed any concerns over the effect of what she does on the young."
She has stated many times, that she refuses to let her daughter (children) watch TV. But, she doesn't mind making her wealth from TV and projecting and (advocating) a highly sexualized image of woman.
You may also find it interesting, that when she was living in London M. deliberately sent her daughter to the French School. Not a British one or the American School, but the French. In the article I read some years ago, she stated something to the effect, that she would defer to her daughter for correct pronunciation when she prepared for her concerts in France.
@ anonymous 1:41 June 7,
I didn't realize they had operated. I didn't know what you meant by "vaporization". When I said you were lucky I thought they had not operated. However, maybe you were lucky after all to have prevented an even greater problem. The foods that I mentioned are everyday things we all eat. I'm sure they are safe, but ask your doctor first. The fact that you did have surgery makes me a little cautious.
@ anonymous 11:08 June 7,
I'm not really surprised she sent Lourdes to a French school. That is the ultimate chic. I do remember that she said she wished her daughter would dress more conservatively! She was criticized even by the press for such obvious hypocrisy.
I think Jody Foster must have gone to a French school - her French is fluent. And of course Candace Bergen, Jane Fonda, Oliver Stone, and Angelina Jolie all have French connections.
French culture has become a little like Hellenic culture after the decline of Ancient Athens. Alexander the Great helped to spread a diluted version of Greek culture to the lands he conquered, and Roman families used to send their children to Athens for their education much in the same way status seekers today send their kids to France, or to a French school. The original, concentrated, superior culture declines but it survives as a source and a resource for younger generations. It stops growing and nothing new of great quality is ever added to it, but it has enough vitality to outlive the ages.
However, it can work in reverse too. Status seekers in France want their kids to go to Harvard for an MBA, or Princeton, or Yale, etc... American universities, despite the lowering of the general culture, still attract people in search of both excellence and status. I don't know how much excellence they get today, but they must feel they have status. Look at Christine Lagarde, head of the IMF. She speaks English on the job, even in France, English being a status symbol for her the way French is for Madonna.
