The cardinal prays in a mosque

An upsetting bit of information posted at Saphir News, a Muslim website:

On Thursday, February 21, 2013, cardinal Barbarin, primate of the Gauls, attended the grand mosque of Lyon during the afternoon prayer (Asr) in order to pray with the Muslim community for the release of  seven French hostages, including four children, from the department of le Rhône.

Note: Seven French hostages were kidnapped in Cameroon on Tuesday. They are presumably being held in Nigeria. In another example of government incompetence, the minister in charge of veterans, Kader Arif, announced their release, then retracted his announcement. As I post there are still negotiations going on.

Asr is one of the five Muslim prayers held throughout the day.

In the presence of a large audience, a ceremony of meditation and prayer was organized. After the psalmody of the Koran, the grand mufti of the mosque, Kamel Kabtane, called on the community to pray for the rapid release of our compatriots and to express his concern as uncertainty clouded the entire day. The cardinal said he was very moved by this fraternal meeting organized by the Lyon mosque in the enclosure of the prayer room and he prayed with them.

There is a video that accompanies the article in which Cardinal Barbarin appears second from the right. Philippe Barbarin was born in Morocco in 1950, another of so many high-placed Frenchmen, born in North Africa, who have difficulty identifying completely not only with France but with Christianity. He has, however, come out against homosexual marriage, a violation of natural law that is apparently more fundamental and crucial to him than the rapid growth of Islam on French soil.

At Yves Daoudal's website there are some comments:

- Apostate.

- Does the Cardinal know who the god of the Muslims is? Does he think he's praying to God, who just has a different name in a different language? Has he been infected with media sickness ever since he made open declarations on marriage for certain persons?

- Unbelievable, that we have come to this!

- He certainly is consistent! After uttering in public the line from the Koran: "There is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet" which was enough to reveal his Muslim faith, now he goes to pray in a mosque! Does an apostate bishop have the right to participate in a Conclave to elect a Pope, the head of the Catholic church??

Either he is keeping the enemy close or he has fallen so far into love they neighbour bit that he doesn't see a threat. (eyes wide shut)

I think it's a later that some of these higher ups in the Catholic church have gone over the edge.

In the 60's, anti-whites forced ALL and ONLY white countries to open thier borders to non-white immigration. Then anti-whites forced ALL and ONLY white people to "integrate" or face penalties for being "naziswhowantokill6millionjews." Now anti-whites are counting down the days till ALL and ONLY white children are minorities and extinct EVERYWHERE. It's genocide. "Anti-racist" is a codeword for anti-white.

Anonymous 12:03 p.m. Is Not A Lunatic !! And anyone around here knows that that accusation is one of the sinister, insideous sadly effective tools to discredit and worse ,those who speak the 'wrong' truths. And I am reporting this priest to the Vatican, and continue to pray that the to be Pope will do something about these errors.

Anonymous, it is not just that, but the advent of the pill and the sexual revolution which made it almost necessary for Europe to fling open its doors. There weren't enough Europeans being born. Contraception, abortion and the failure of the Church to vehemently oppose this is the result we see today. It doesn't surprise me that a Catholic cardinal is praying in a mosque. If there is to be a revival, it must start with the Church. Some are wondering if the gates of Hell haven't already prevailed against the Church. I am praying hard, as I'm becoming a convert this year.

So far, my education is strictly orthodox. We have spoken at length about heresies and homosexuality and what the ancient saints (Catherine of Siena, for example) have said about it. I am fortunate to be in a traditionalist church where attendance is high, for Saturday evening and both Sunday services. The pews are packed. I go to Harrisburg for my first reconciliation on the 23rd, and will cross the Tiber on the Easter Vigil. I'm very excited. I come from a Church of Christ/evangelical background, but was attending a Presbyterian Church. I have to believe that there's a divine hunger within so many former evangelicals into the Roman Catholic church for mostly the same reasons as mine (the mainline Protestant churches lack cohesive and unified sacraments, for the most part, and history.) The church I attended as a child believed that it was the only Restored New Testament Church...which begs too many questions to answer here, of course.
The bishop from Harrisburg gave the homily last Sunday, and he said his budget for financing the education of young men going into the priesthood had tripled. Kind of a good problem. I think younger people are being called to spiritual warfare against their hippie elders who have truly corrupted the church. We shall see. My sponsor is a young woman in her mid 20s, and she is leaving to become a Carmelite nun in July. Thank you for praying for me.
